Current research interests
My current research interests focus on issues of class and ethnicity within Indian and peasant movements in Ecuador during the twentieth century.

I am also beginning a new research project on Ethnicity, The Indian Question, and the Communist International in South America.

Papers I have presented and sessions I have organized at academic conferences such as the Latin American Studies Association (LASA), Social Science History Association (SSHA), and Conference on Latin American History (CLAH), including abstracts and the full texts of many of these papers.

Talks and lectures    

Increasingly I am asked to present talks on areas of my expertise, including popular movements and ethnicity in Latin America.
