World Social Forum

campusI am attending the World Social Forum (WSF) in Tunis, Tunisia from March 24-28, 2015 with the Network Institute for Global Democratization and community radio station WORT-FM.

Julian Assange spoke to the World Social Forum on the panel "Wikileaks, The Future of the Internet, and Social Change" organized by the Pirate Party on March 27, 2015 via internet from the Ecuadorian embassy in London. The room had no electricity and hence no amplification and few people could hear him as we crowded around a laptop. As soon as he was done speaking, the electricity came back on.

Audio of his comments (mp3, 50min, 50MB) and audience discussion (mp3, 1h10min, 64MB).

Others on the panel spoke about other topics, including the role of wikileaks in the Tunisian revolution. An independent journalist from Morocco said, “Without internet there would have been no Arab Spring in Morocco. Without internet I would have been imprisoned.”
